Whiskeytown National Recreation Area retains 100% of the fees collected from the sale of its passes to pay for needed repairs and projects to improve visitor services and facilities.

Here are some of the projects that have been funded using the income from the sale of park passes.

Projects now in planning stages for 2006-2007

Completion of the Whiskeytown Falls Trail by midsummer 2006

Construction of a staging area for the Shasta-Trinity Trail, to be located on Trinity Mountain Road

Continuation of lifeguard services and the Junior Lifeguard program at Brandy Creek Beach

Construction of a trail to link Sheep Camp with Boulder Creek Falls

Rehabilitation of the parking area surrounding the entrance sign along Highway 299 at the eastern boundary of the park

Placement of a new kayak shed at Brandy Creek Beach as a second location for launching the popular free kayak tours on the lake

Construction of universally accessible fishing piers at Oak Bottom Marina and Whiskey Creek Launch Ramp

Replacement of portable chemical toilets with new vault toilets at Davis Gulch Trailhead, Highway 299 swimming areas, Kennedy Memorial Drive swimming areas, Peltier Bridge Campground, Whiskey Creek Group Picnic Area, and Brandy Creek Primitive Campsites

Replenishment of sand at Brandy Creek and Oak Bottom Swim Beaches

Construction of handicapped accessible picnic sites and trails to the water at Oak Bottom and Brandy Creek Beaches

Replacement of deteriorated wooden picnic tables with durable cement accessible tables throughout the park

Remodel of old public restrooms to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards

Installation of trailhead bulletin boards and directional signs on many previously undesignated trails throughout the park and improvements on those trails

Replacement of old wayside exhibit signs with new ones throughout park, including those in the Tower House Historic District and at the Glory Hole

Installation of electric hand dryers in restrooms throughout park

Renovation of the Oak Bottom Amphitheater, popular site of evening Ranger programs, with a new audiovisual system

Control of shoreline erosion at Oak Bottom Campground

Rehabilitation of primitive campgrounds with new bear-proof storage lockers, level tent sites, cement campfire pits with BBQ grates, lamp poles, and signage

Installation of a Transportation Information System, Whiskeytown’s own public info radio station at 1440 AM

Inventory of logging and mining roads for possible inclusion in trail system after rehabilitation

Installation of new bulletin boards and kiosks at the three launch ramps

Current Fees 2006 and 2007

Daily Passes cost $5, Weekly Passes $10, and Annual Passes $25. The Whiskeytown Annual Passes are also valid for admission into Lassen Volcanic National Park in 2006 and 2007.
